The Dallas Mavericks continued their losing streak against the West's top teams Monday night, blowing a fourth quarter lead in a disappointing 116-110 loss to Jazz in Salt Lake City. In a game which featured no defense whatsoever, the Mavericks were unable to get a single stop in a late 16-0 Jazz run that sealed the deal and dropped Dallas to 39-22.

The Mavs' inability to beat anyone with a decent record is somewhat troubling
As a team, the Mavericks shot an impressive .500 --unfortunately, the Jazz shot an even more impressive .532, and had a 14-point lead at the half. The Mavericks stormed back in the third, only to allow the Jazz unfettered access to the basket in the fourth. That, combined with the Houston Rockets' 15-game win streak, has put Dallas in fourth place in their own division, four games behind the surging Spurs.
Josh Howard led all Mavericks in scoring with 25 points, and was helped out by a so-so game from Dirk Nowitzki, who added 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 turnovers. Jason Kidd had 19 points, 9 assists and three steals, but still has not beaten a good team in this stint with the Mavs.
Jason Terry added 21 points, while Eric Dampier had a sub-par game with just 6 points, 5 rebounds and a leading role in most of the Mavs' defensive breakdowns.
