14-year-old Loflin Middle student progresses to national spelling bee
Hannah Chi, 14, of Loflin Middle School in Joshua took the regional spelling bee on Monday after 18 rounds. Her winning word was "affirmative" and after also spelling "malleable" she solidified her place in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC.
The runner up was Allen Gomez, a Mansfield ISD student. He misspelled "conspiracy" (conspirously), but here's the kicker: he's only 8-years-old and spelled words like mnemonic, fraulein, and blitzkrieg. But alas, Allen of Kenneth Davis Elementary School, it just wasn't enough. Better luck next time, w-h-i-p-p-e-r-s-n-a-p-p-e-r. What country of origin is that? Mind your own business.
Posted by Erin who misspelled "punctuation" in 8th grade and has not yet gotten over it.
