Argyle ISD fires Superintendent Jason Ceyanes
Dr. Ceyanes had been given a written reprimand on January 31, but no reasons were publicly released for his firing.
The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees voted 5 to 2 Monday night to terminate Superintendent Jason Ceyanes' employment contract at a specially called meeting.
The motion was made by Brenda Alexander. Board members Russell Ammons and Klip Weaver voted against the motion.
A large group of parents showed up at the meeting to voice their support of Dr. Ceyanes.
"There are many issues that have not been resolved and the majority of the Board felt under the circumstances it was time for the district to proceed in a different direction," according to a statement issued by school board president Dr. Debbie Cantrell.
Dr. Ceyanes, who started with the district last May, was given a written reprimand by school board members on Jan. 31. A week earlier, the board voted to not extend his employment contract. No reasons were publicly released for the board's actions.
"The Board considered the information from a variety of sources and made a decision that the Board feels is in the best interest of the school district. We hope we can move forward and do what is best for our faculty, students, and community," said Dr. Cantrell.
