DALLAS The Law Offices of Frank L. Branson has been recognized by American Lawyer Media’s Verdict Search for obtaining one of the nation’s largest verdicts of 2007. In May 2007, the firm obtained a $20.8 million jury verdict for the wife and estate of a man who died after his vehicle was struck by an 18-wheeler.
The verdict in Bohne v. Enviroclean Management Services Inc. came in at No. 92 on Verdict Search’s listing of the “Top 100 Verdicts of 2007.” The verdict represents the eighth largest in Texas during the past year.
Firm founder Frank L. Branson represented Kathleen Bohne in the wrongful death lawsuit stemming from an Aug. 12, 2004 truck wreck that claimed the life of her husband Robert E. Bohne.
A tractor-trailer carrying hazardous waste for Dallas-based Enviroclean Management Services Inc. collided with a car driven by Mr. Bohne, causing the car to flip over. Mr. Bohne suffered serious injuries, and was never able to leave the hospital before dying from complications caused by his injuries. In all, Mr. Bohne was hospitalized for 162 days.
“Through obvious gross negligence, this couple’s golden years were ruined,” Mr. Branson says. “My hope is that this verdict sends a message to the trucking industry that this sort of behavior isn’t going to be tolerated.”
In their verdict, jurors awarded approximately $9.8 million in actual damages and $11 million in exemplary damages.
The Verdict Search “Top 100 Verdicts of 2007” is included as a special section in the February 18, 2008, issue of The National Law Journal.
The Law Offices of Frank L. Branson represents clients in cases involving complex product liability, catastrophic injury, commercial air crashes, professional negligence, and business torts.
