SMU senior David Kuczer has been named Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Kuczer, a native of Szcecin, Poland, went undefeated last weekend, playing against No. 32 Virginia Tech and at No. 21 VCU. Against Va. Tech, Kuczer notched a straight-set win over Nicolas Degado de Robles at No. 2, taking the match, 6-3, 6-4. In doubles, he paired with Adolfo Solares at No. 2 to defeat Brandon Corace and Albert Larregola, 8-4, helping the Mustangs win the doubles point.

At VCU, Kuczer dropped the first set to Damien Lacombe, 6-2, but overcame his slow start to take the next two sets, 7-5, 6-4. In doubles, he paired with Adham el-Effendi at No. 2 to defeat 48th-ranked Thibaut Charron and Martin Schulhauser, 8-5, to again help the Mustangs win the doubles point, and nearly upset the Rams.

With the wins, Kuczer is now 9-2 on the season in singles and riding a seven-match winning streak. Kuczer is also on a five-match doubles win streak. The C-USA weekly honor is the first of Kuczer's career.

The Mustangs are back in action Wednesday as they head north to face No. 15 Oklahoma State.
