TCU’s Derrey named women’s golfer of the month
TCU's Valentine Derrey has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for February.
A sophomore from Paris, France, Derrey has received the MWC honor for the third time in four months. She also won it once as a freshman last year.
Derrey posted a pair of top-10 results as she recorded a 72.5 stroke average over six rounds in February. Derrey began the month with a ninth-place finish at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. She shot a 6-over-par 219.
At the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, Derrey was fifth with an even-par 216. She led the 30th-ranked Horned Frogs to a third-place finish in an 18-team field that included seven top-25 programs.
Derrey tops the MWC while ranking seventh nationally with a 72.6 stroke average. She has recorded four consecutive top-10 finishes.
The Frogs return to action Friday at the Texas A&M MoMorial in College Station.
