Kirilenko celebrated the suspension, Utah-style

— The Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki was suspended --without pay-- for one game by the NBA for his hard foul on Utah’s Andrei Kirilenko. Unfortunately for Mavs fans, this means that Dirk will miss Dallas' next game, at home Thursday night against the en fuego divisional rival Houston Rockets, who recently passed them in the tight Western Conference standings.

Nowitzki received a flagrant-1 when he hit Kirilenko midway through the first quarter of a 116-110 loss to Utah on Monday. After the game, however, NBA officials reviewed the play and decided to upgrade it to a flagrant-2, and handed down the suspension.

The Mavericks are in desperate need of their top scorer tonight against the Rockets, who have won 16 games in a row to leapfrog the Mavs in the standings.
