Happy Friday!

Hello and thanks to everyone we met at Pegasus' first local music showcase last weekend. If you took photos, please post them to our Flickr group. Thanks also to everybody who cast ballots and caucused in Tuesday's primary election despite bad weather and long lines.

Ways we're currently bribing you to spend more time with us

You can win tickets and a cab ride to cover your St. Patty's Day needs ... If you're a musician and might want some comped time at the spanking new Absolute Rehearsal Studios, check out this contest ... We gave away a ton of Savor Dallas tickets to lucky UnContest winners and plucky restaurant reviewers ... You're really missing out if you're not browsing the site logged in -- You could be winning the UnContest without even knowing it.

Metro

Dallas Progress gives context to the Democratic primary results. Dallas County's longtime former sheriff will face former Irving councilman and police chief Lowell Cannaday in a GOP runoff for the chance to challenge Lupe Valdez. Latina Lista analyzes the importance of the Hispanic vote in Hillary's Texas primary victory. In Fort Worth, West and Clear offers a first look at a new pedestrian bridge over the Trinity River. Lantana Links reported the firing of Argyle ISD's superintendent. Tim O'Hare, the councilman who crafted Farmers Branch's controversial and costly immigration ordinances, told Pegasus why he wants to be mayor. Also, Minnie got to know Irving's police chief.

Music

Mike O. reviewed another early acoustic show at the Granada. 2K7 Photography caught Marilyn Manson on Leap Day. Van Halen postponed their AAC concert. The Dave Matthews Band scheduled a Dallas date. The Dallas Symphony announced their new season. Additionally, Old 97's set a CD release date and leaked a new track. They're among the many acts bound for SXSW in Austin this week -- quite a few of whom will appear around here. Find them using Erin's handy guide, now handier than ever.

Dining

Fort Worth, Deep Ellum, and Dallas offerings made a national "best burger" list. TG reviewed Kraft's new caramel bits and broke news that the Carrabba's in Lakewood will become an Ali Baba. Il Sole on Travis Walk is also relocating. Plus, Best Bites brings news of a just-opened African restaurant that serves the famed West African dish known as fufu.

Bidness

Minnie spent time at an earth-friendly boutique in Lakewood. Relocations abound in Richardson and Plano. The Dallas Fed also offered words of caution for 2008.

Sports

In this week's Cupcheck, Todd responds to some of his fan mail. The Rangers' Hank Blalock is ok following an accident in Surprise, Arizona. Marty Turco is getting mad props from his NHL peeps. The Mavs continue to lose to the league's top teams. Meanwhile, the Cowboys signed Flozell "The Hotel" to a long-term contract.

Living

The Goss-Michael Foundation is offering scholarships for high school student artists. Fig Theatre Company's Godspell defied Mark-Brian Sonna's expectations (in a good way). You can now see video from the Uncle Barky Show (and highlights from the 9th Annual Column Awards, held Monday in Plano, are coming soon). We also encourage you to compare notes with alumni of J.J. Pearce in Richardson, who critiqued the new reality show High School Reunion featuring grads from the class of '87.

Flix

We've got lots of new reviews including Semi-Pro, The Band's Visit, City of Men, and Romulus, My Father. Even our theatre editor Shawn got in on the action, reviewing Penelope. Film guy John Meyer is bound for the SXSW Film Conference and Festival in Austin, where he'll be reporting live all next week. Tonight's also the beginning of Texas Fear Fest 2 in Dallas, including a charity auction.

Happy hour, anyone?
