Colleyville proclaims October 18, 2008 as The Blue Shoe Project Day

— The Colleyville City Council proclaims October 18, 2008 as The Blue Shoe Project Day, celebrating the non-profit’s accomplishments and the worldwide notoriety Blue Shoe has brought to the small Texas community. The date commemorates the original date in 2004 of the watershed concert in Dallas, Texas at the heart of the group’s now-international acclaim.

The Blue Shoe Project was the big winner at the recent Grammy Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles, California for its album Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen – Live in Dallas. The 50th Annual Grammy winner in the “Traditional Blues” category is being hailed as one of the greatest live recordings of all-time.

Colleyville residents and producers of the album, Jeffry and Michael Dyson, Founders of The Blue Shoe Project were two of only five Texans honored with the music industry’s most prestigious award. In all 34 Texans received Grammy Nominations.

“This is a strong call to action for not just the citizens of Colleyville but for everyone who appreciates great music. All music lovers should want to perpetuate this great, uniquely American art form - the Blues, for future generations to appreciate. The Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen – Live in Dallas album does just that,” explains Michael Dyson

Copies of The Grammy award-winning album Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen – Live in Dallas can be purchased via The Blue Shoe Project’s website.
