— The Dallas Mavericks seemed to have everything going their way Saturday night against the Nets, as they cruised to an easy 111-91 victory in a game specially marked by another franchise milestone from Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki scored his 16,644th career point against the Nets, one more than former Maverick legend Rolando Blackman, to much applause and a standing ovation at the AAC.

The game was also the first meeting between the two teams since their blockbuster trade that sent Jason Kidd to the Mavericks in exchange for Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop and a motley assortment of players, picks and cash. Kidd clearly had the better game, with 3 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists --one more than the entire Nets team-- as well as three steals for good measure. Harris, meanwhile, had a relatively quiet night with just 9 points and 2 assists. Diop finished with just a single point and five rebounds.

Dirk had the best game of any player involved, scoring 34 points and hauling down 9 rebounds. Dirk shot 10-of-18 from the floor and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw stripe. Jerry Stackhouse added 20 points, Brandon Bass added 19 off the bench and Josh Howard had an uncharacteristically anonymous evening, shooting just 2-for-4 for 6 points and 6 rebounds.

The win improved the Mavs to 40-23, still in fourth place in the ultra-competitive Southwest Division, four games behind the Spurs.
