You know that convention center hotel the Dallas City Council is dying to build? Add a ballpark
While they're at it, how about a Disney World, an Eiffel Tower, and a Noah's Ark? I mean, come on people, dream BIG.
Is a baseball stadium going to be part of the convention center hotel complex that the Dallas City Council cannot wait to build downtown? The DBJ found evidence in city records that a 5,000- to 12,000-seat stadium is being proposed. Unfortunately, the city has imposed a gag order on any developer who's making a bid -- God forbid any of us know what's going on -- so "details are sketchy," as the DBJ puts it. Why stop at a ballpark? How about a Disney World, an Eiffel Tower, an African jungle, a Las Vegas recreation, or a Noah's Ark? I mean, where's the vision here.

John McClelland, says:
What is wrong with adding a ballpark? Minor league baseball stadiums add value to most downtown areas. Plus, we all know it would be more fun and affordable to watch a team in downtown Dallas, than it is to drive to Arlington.
Of course, I have one near me in Frisco I have yet to go to. So maybe I am a hypocrite.

Scott Doyle, says:
Any word on what team will be playing in said ballpark? Perhaps the United League will <a href="http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2007/jan/26/minor-league-baseball-dallas-all-dead-one-ownershi/">finally get their wish</a>?
Southern Independent Baseball <a href="http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2007/jan/29/ownership-group-revives-downtown-dallas-baseball-s/">had their intentions</a>, too. Doubtful the American Association will have anything to do with it since they <a href="http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2007/jun/26/grand-prairie-chooses-airhogs-name-citys-future-am/">just added</a> the Grand Prairie AirHogs.
Back to work for Doyle! Info on who's developing interest would be appreciated.

Man I wish it was the American Association. A downtown ballpark (especially on the South Side :-) would be sweet either way.

A ballpark would be about the only thing that would get me yippity skippity about this deal. Build us a park and I'm all in.
