DALLAS Chaucer's Steaks & Sushi, which currently has one branch in Addison, will open another branch in the West End this spring, in the space at 2020 North Lamar Street that was previously Have a Nice Day Cafe Dallas Alley.
"We've noticed that the Uptown buzz has been moving down there, kindof spreading towards the West End, and we wanted to get in," says Chaucer spokesman Keith Burgoyne.
The new space has 13,000 square feet, compared to Chaucer Addison's 11,000 square feet, but the menu and the concept will be basically the same: bargain sushi served, drink specials, and a late-night party atmosphere to pick up when the dining stops.
Chaucer's owners also own the "Master Grill" Brazilian churrascaria concept, which currently has branches open in Denton and at the Firewheel Center in Garland, with another one opening in Frisco in the spring.

Chaucer's is actually going into the space once occupied by Dallas Alley, not Have A Nice Day Cafe. That space is already occupied by Mambo Cafe - a great salsa dance club from Mexico.

And if anyone wants the 10000 square ft space in Mockingbird Station that Chaucer's occupied for five minutes, it's been sitting empty since and is surely available. Remember this?

WestEndPubDallas, thanks for clearing that up. i got that from the folks at chaucer's and could not figure out the discrepancy between the "2020 Lamar" address and the "2019". appreciate your input
whitneyTM, thanks for reminding me about the mockingbird station branch, i'd meant to mention that in the story and forgot. your laundry list of the dead restaurants there is both impressive and sad
