In recognition of Red Cross Month, Purple Cow Diner has two locations that are donating 15% of dine-in sales on Thursday, March 27 between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to the American Red Cross-Dallas Area Chapter. For the Red Cross to receive the donation, a customer simply must mention the Red Cross when paying their bill. The participating locations are Preston Royal Shopping Center, 110 Preston Royal, Dallas; and Lakeside Market Shopping Center, 5809 Preston Road, Plano.
Guests can increase the donation received by the Dallas Area Chapter by giving personal donations or by purchasing preparedness items like first aid kits at special Red Cross tables at both locations.
“We’re hoping March 27th is a successful day for the Red Cross,” said Celina Santos, representative, Purple Cow Diner. “The American Red Cross-Dallas Area Chapter has served our community faithfully for more than 95 years and today Purple Cow Diner is excited and honored to support their life-saving work in the community.”
In celebrating Red Cross Month with this fundraiser, Purple Cow Diner is honoring the humanitarian heart and volunteer spirit of the American Red Cross and its supporters. Without the help of those who have contributed their time and money, the Red Cross would not be able to fulfill its life-saving mission of helping communities prevent, prepare for and respond to disaster.
“Everyday in North Texas, our employees and volunteers work to change lives and save lives by educating individuals on how to be prepared for emergencies,” said Cheryl Sutterfield-Jones, chief executive officer of American Red Cross-Dallas Area Chapter. “Fundraisers like the one Purple Cow Diner is hosting for us make a significant difference to the individuals in our community. Every donation ensures the Dallas Area Chapter is able to support North Texas residents through challenging times. We thank Purple Cow Diner for their support.”
In 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt first declared that “March is Red Cross Month” when he said, “I request that during (March), our people rededicate themselves to the splendid aims and activities of the Red Cross.” Each year since, the President of the United States has proclaimed “March is Red Cross Month.” This annual celebration gives the Red Cross and the community an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the incredible work of a great humanitarian organization.
