Original Kincaid’s in Fort Worth might have to move out of rundown location OMG

4

Kincaid's, the burger joint in Fort Worth that has done business in a rundown, non-insulated shack on Camp Bowie Boulevard since 1967, is facing a rent hike. Oh evil landlord, how can you want to recoup your investment by interfering with one of Fort Worth's most beloved institutions? The current owners own the business but not the location. They've opened three other branches in ritzy neighborhoods such as the one near the Hulen Mall, another in Southlake, and a third in Arlington in the thriving Matlock Road area; and plan to open two more branches in Weatherford and Fort Worth's Alliance Town Square.

Failing to negotiate a rent they liked, the owners took their case to the FWST, even citing figures (Old rent: $6.94 per square foot. New rent: $27.28. Counter offer: $13 per square foot. Rejected.), obviously hoping that people would rally to their cause. Which, predictably, they are. The money quote: "We must save Kincaid's -- not only for Camp Bowie, but for all of Fort Worth." Nevermind Fort Worth -- for the world!

Ha, nm - it's in the FWST article.

Yeah, $26k to $103k isn't the easiest transition. And the grandfathered protection against updating to code is pretty worrisome...time to move!

It's a shame....We starting going there (on Camp Bowie) way back in 1973 when it was actually a grocery store with a meat market that cooked up hamburgers.

Yummmmmmmmmm!!!
