Traffic switch on Rowlett Road just south of SH 66

— After more than a year and a half, motorists are getting to enjoy newly constructed southbound lanes on Rowlett Road, just south of SH 66.

Traffic was switched to the new lanes early Friday morning, March 14 to accommodate two southbound lanes and one northbound lane while contractors prepare the northbound lanes for reconstruction.

The new lanes extend from SH 66 south to Century Drive. Northbound motorists are advised to expect delays. Access will be provided to all businesses on Rowlett Road. Please read the access signs and proceed with caution.

Other details:

• Traffic will remain reduced to one lane on Main Street west of Rowlett Road with two-way traffic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. One-way traffic on Main St. occurs on weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.

• The Dennis Street and Main Street alleys, from Oliver to Rowlett Road will be closed until construction Phase II is complete.

• A railroad flagman will provide crossing assistance during train crossings until new crossing arms are installed.

• The Larry Drive and Delia Drive crossover median opening will be re-opened for access.

• The southbound lane will transition from two lanes to one lane at Larry, and merge into the two-way work zone at Kyle.
