Denton County Health Department provides financial assistance for mammograms

Email Print Tell us your story Comment

— The Denton County Health Department is again providing financial assistance to the county’s underserved women for mammograms. To qualify, one must be considered low income, uninsured, 40 years of age or older, and in need for an annual screening.

Community presentations, health fairs, and referrals through the health department’s primary care clinic are ways of obtaining a mammogram. To date, the program has assisted 94 women.

Because early detection of breast cancer improves outcome dramatically, women in need of a mammogram and meeting these qualifications should contact the Denton County Health Department at 940-349-2900.

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
