FRISCO Richard Morris caught four touchdown passes and Dennis Hopovac kicked a team-record three field goals as the Frisco Thunder defeated the Alaska Wild 50-41 in an Intense Football League game before 1,701 at the DeJa Blue Arena in the Dr. Pepper Star Center Sunday evening.
Frisco improved to 3-0 while Alaska fell to 1-1.
Alaska trailed 31-14 early in the third quarter, but closed to 43-41 on Nian Taylor’s 17-yard pass from Nick Mystrom with 14:14 remaining.
Frisco answered with a 35-yard Wes Cooper to Jason Deml touchdown pass, then relied on a blocked field and a Kedrick Alexander interception to preserve the victory.
Mystom finished with 229 yards and four touchdown for the Wild, with three of those going to Taylor. Andre Velazquez had six catches for 92 yards.
Morris caught nine passes for 90 yards to lead the Thunder. Cooper was 15 of 30 for 140 yards and five touchdowns. Ricky Madison rushed for a score, and Kevin Lenford set a team record with 123 kickoff return yards on five attempts.
The Thunder hosts the CenTex Barracudas next Saturday at 6 p.m.
