— The Dallas Mavericks kept it entertaining, but once again they could not seal the deal against a good team, losing 94-90 to the NBA-leading Boston Celtics at the AAC. The Celtics became the first team since 2001 to beat San Antonio, Houston and Dallas in the state of Texas, and upped their winning ways to 14 of the last 15 games.

The Mavs, meanwhile, still have not beaten a quality team since acquiring Jason Kidd for Devon Harris. Although Dallas led through most of the second half, the Celtics slowly but steadily wore out the Mavs in the fourth quarter, outscoring them 28-20 in the final frame for their league-leading 55th win. The Mavericks dropped to 44-25 on the year.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with some surprisingly physical play, collecting 22 points, 19 rebounds and two blocked shots. Josh Howard led the Mavs with 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting, while Jerry Stackhouse showcased his shooting ability, going 7-for-15, including 3-for-6 from the three-point stripe, en route to a 17 point performance.

Jason Kidd had perhaps his best game against a good team as a Maverick. Despite scoring just 2 points on miserable 1-of-8 shooting, Kidd proved valuable in other areas, snagging 11 rebounds, dishing out 9 assists and collecting a pair of steals.
