Conduit Gallery will open three new exhibitions with a reception for the artists Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 5:30 to 8:30PM. The exhibitions will be open March 29 – May 3.

Justin Quinn: Breath He Must, or Die He Will

Since 1998, Justin Quinn has been exploring ideas of visual and perceptual space through the use of letterforms, in particular the letter “E.” Using Herman Melville’s 1851 novel Moby Dick as source material for large and small scale prints, collages and drawings, “E” becomes a surrogate for all letters in the alphabet, denying written words their use as legible signifiers, allowing Quinn to use his “parallel language” to become a basis for visual manufacture.

Justin Quinn earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking, a Master of Art in Art History and a Graduate Book Certificate in 2000 from the University of Iowa. From 2001 to 2005, Quinn was an Assistant Professor of Art at the University of North Texas in Denton. In 2005, Quinn moved to Saint Cloud, Minnesota where he is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Saint Cloud University.

Exhibitions since 2005 include; Andrea Rosen Gallery, NY, NY; Frieze Art Fair (with Andrea Rosen Gallery) London, England; The Jagiellonian Library, Krakow, Poland; The International Print Triennial, Vienna, Austria; 808 Gallery, Boston, MA; International Print Center of New York, NY, NY; 8th Annual Miniature Art Biennial, Ville-Marie, Quebec; Akra Gallery, Vilinus, Lithuania; the 5th Biennial of Engraving, Liege, Belgium and The American University of Cairo, Cairo, Egypt.

Vincent Falsetta: Recent Work

Continuing his investigation of abstract gesture, process, and expression, Mr. Falsetta’s newest body of work features cascades and vertical striations of color that are at once streaming, free, spontaneous, controlled, partitioned, and deliberate. Using brushes, cardboard, spreaders, palette knives, and dry wall spatulas to achieve rich texture, Falsetta achieves deliberate spontaneity.

Vincent Falsetta earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from the Tyler School of Art in 1974. Since 1978 Falsetta has taught Studio Art at the University of North Texas in Denton and has had a continual exhibition record. He is represented in the permanent collections of; the Tyler Museum of Art, Tyler, TX; Art Museum of South Texas, Beaumont, TX; El Paso Museum of Art, El Paso, TX; Swope Art Museum, Terra Haute, IN; Neiman Marcus, Dallas, TX; Arkansas Art Center, Little Rock, AR and the Longview Art Museum, Longview, TX.

Cédric Delsaux: Star Wars on Earth

In French photographer Cédric Delsaux’s large format photographs, Star Wars action figures and the suburbs of Paris seamlessly integrate into beautifully cinematic tableaux’s. The work is subtle and serene with a sly humor that plays-to and forgoes any known nostalgia of the widely popular Star Wars franchise.

Cedric Delsaux lives and works in Paris, France. He has been a full-time commercial photographer since 2003 while continuously working on his personal artistic practice of which the Star Wars series is included. Delsaux won the Kodak prize for landscapes and architecture with his Star Wars on Earth series in 2005.

This will be the US exhibition of Delsaux’s photography. In 2006, Delsaux was selected in the Leurzer's Archive as one of the "200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide."
