This Easter weekend has something for everyone in Dallas

A pack of dogs, a group of bears, a Christian pop star, several hundred lesbians and the Easter Bunny walk into a bar. Believe it or not, that’s not a joke setup. It’s what’s in store over the next seven days of springtime fun.

Easter in Lee Park - Robert E. Lee Park

Sunday, March 23, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Admission: Free. Pooch Parade Entry Fee $10 per category

It’s the 23rd anniversary of one of the city’s most festive celebrations. Register for the Pooch Parade at 11:00 a.m., watch the parade of adoptable dogs at 12:45 p.m., followed by the pooch costume parade at 1:00 p.m. Then relax until 3:00 p.m. when the Dallas Symphony Orchestra loosens up and has some fun with their instruments. Wear your Easter bonnets, pack a picnic and make sure to bring plenty of hand sanitizer for the port-a-potties.

Ya!Ya, Anton Shaw, Fishing for Comets and Ciao Bella: Girl Power Weekend - Sue Ellen’s

Tonight – Sunday, March 23. Cover: 0-$4

This weekend has nothing to do with Wonder Woman, Batgirl or that really strong chick who fixes the office copier, but everything to do with rockin’ out with the gals at Sue Ellen’s for the next four nights. Ya!Ya, Anton Shaw, Fishing for Comets and Ciao Bella jam pack the lineup with some serious indie cred and tunes for days. Literally.

Texas Bear Round Up 13

Tonight – Sunday, March 23. Prices, times and venues vary, but go to www.dallasbears.com for a schedule.

Grrrrr. Grrrrrrrr. Who’s that knockin’ at my door? A bear! A bear! A great big bear (or several hundred). From midnight swimming parties and underwear auctions to lip-smackin’ barbecue and bingo, it’s all about the bears this weekend. Goldilocks, rest easy. Ain’t nobody sleepin’ in your bed tonight.

Amy Grant

Amy Grant

Amy Grant with the DSO - Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center

Friday, March 21 & Saturday, March 22, 8:00 p.m. Tickets: $26 to $101.

Remember that great dream where Amy Grant invites you to a party and you become her new best friend? Just us? Hmmm. Well, create new dreams as the ever-likable Christian pop queen joins the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for a little wholesome entertainment. Believe us, you need it.

Dog Tails and Cocktails - W Dallas - Victory

Wednesday, March 26. Email RSVP.01521@whotels.com to reserve your spot. Get it? Spot. Hee.

Let’s get those bitches drunk (and their little dogs, too)! The W Hotel in Victory Park brings back its extremely pup-ular happy hour event where you’re guaranteed to get tipsy and go home with a dog. Bring your pooch, drink some hooch. Just make sure to RSVP because space is limited. Adoptions available through Paws in the City at the event.

GLBT Job Expo - Radisson Hotel Central Dallas, 6060 North Central Expressway.

Wednesday, March 26, Noon – 5:00 p.m. Prices: $350 ($300 for GLBT Chamber Members) for Exhibiting Employers; Expo is free for job applicants; Lunch $25.

Workin’ 9 to 5, what a way to make a living! While you may not get Dolly Parton as a secretary, you could just find the perfect employee (or the ideal job, depending on which side of the hunt you’re on) at the GLBT Job Expo sponsored by the Resource Center of Dallas and the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy a lunch presentation and résumés with listings like “box boy,” “hairstylist,” “interior decorator” or “stereotype perpetrator.”
