Dallas ISD holds teacher job fair
1200 vacancies are available for the 2008-2009 school year
DALLAS The Dallas Independent School District will host a fair in search of qualified teachers on Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. until noon, at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, 1201 E. Eighth St.

The district has 1,200 teaching vacancies available for the 2008-2009 school year. “Our greatest need is in the area of mathematics, but science, bilingual and reading teachers, are also critically needed,” said Campus Staffing Executive Director Linda Chance.
Qualified candidates interested in teaching for Dallas ISD may apply online at the district’s Web site www.dallasisd.org under the jobs section.
To be admitted at the job fair, candidates must show proof of certification or a letter of acceptance into an Alternative Certification program. Alternative Certification candidates must also show proof of passing the TExES content exam or having 24 credit hours in the content area. If an interested candidate is receiving his/her bachelor’s degree at the end of this spring semester, he/she must bring a letter from the university stating that graduation requirements will be completed at the end of the semester.
Teaching salary ranges between $43,500 and $68,887. Stipends are as follows:
- Bilingual teachers $3,500 (AC Interns) and $4,000 (Certified)
- Math teachers $4,000
- Science teachers $2,500
A signing bonus of $1,000-$1,500 is also being offered based on hired date and subject area. For more information, call the Office of Human Development at (972) 925-4200.
