Flower Mound resident wins contest that’ll donate $5,000 to Flower Mound’s parks

— The Town of Flower Mound’s parks system will soon receive a boost from a resident who won a national competition and a well-known beauty care product company.

Flower Mound resident Kim Chance entered Pantene’s Beautiful Wishes contest and won $5,000 that will go towards enhancing Flower Mound’s parks system. The contest encourages women to enter a wish for their community and life on Pantene’s Web site. Chance’s awarding-winning wish is to create an educational park that is wheelchair accessible, uses natural materials to build interesting play equipment, and contains educational components.

"Creating a new park that incorporates nature and education will increase the amount of time children in this town and in neighboring towns spend outdoors," said Chance. "Spending time outdoors increases creativity and imagination, provides physical exercise, and fosters appreciation for the environment in which we live."

Flower Mound Town staff members have met with Chance and Pantene representatives regarding possible uses for the funds and are very grateful for the contribution. The donation could be used for undeveloped parkland projects, enhancing current parks, or other special park features.

"We are thrilled to receive this donation, and it will be put to good use," said Bart Stevenson, Executive Director of Community Services. "Flower Mound residents truly love their Town, which is evident in Ms. Chance’s wish for her community."
