CenTex Barracudas 54, Frisco Thunder 50

FRISCO Bart Gloyd’s 3-yard run with 5.6 remaining lifted the CenTex Barracudas to a 54-50 over the Frisco Thunder in an Intense Football League game before 1,733 at the Deja Blue Arena in the Dr Pepper Star Center Saturday.
It was the first victory for the Barracudas (1-0) under new head coach Chris Duliban while the Thunder (3-1) suffered its first loss under Troy Esprit.
The teams exchanged the lead five times in the fourth quarter, with Frisco taking its final lead at 50-47 lead on a Ricky Madison 2-yard run with 4:39 left.
Gloyd converted a pair of third downs running on the game-winning drive. He completed 16 of 36 passes for 195 yards and five touchdowns – three to Kendrick Wade.
Guy Fernandez (seven catches for 95 yards) caught three of Wes Cooper’s six touchdowns passes, while Jason Deml (6-54) had two scores and Richard Morris (4-34) had one. Cooper was 17 of 36 for 183 yards with three interceptions.
Frisco led 37-27 on Cooper’s 45-yarder to Fernandez early in the fourth quarter.
Fernandez was named the Thunder’s offensive MVP, while LB Chris Glenn (nine tackles, four tackles) was named Randy White’s BBQ defensive player of the game and KR Kevin Lenford (5-113) was named the Coach Joe’s Sports Grille Special Teams Player.
The Thunder hosts the Fairbanks Grizzlies next Saturday at 6 p.m.
