For the third time, someone set cars on fire in South Oak Cliff. Just before midnight on Saturday, three cars were found burning in front of homes in the 1300 and 1500 blocks of Seevers Avenue and the 1900 block of Ramsey Avenue.
MSNBC adds up the total cars burned as 14 set on fire on February 29; four more were burned on March 8.
UPDATE: The city of Dallas is holding a press conference at 3 p.m. with the Dallas City Council, Fire-Rescue Chief Eddie Burns and Police Chief David Kunkle. to drop the hammer on this arson problem. An official law-enforcement car owned by a Dallas County deputy constable was set on fire at 1 a.m. on Monday in the 1400 block of West Ninth Street.

Ha, so is it just a coincidence that they hold a press conference and decide to take action the morning after city property is burned? What makes these 3 any different than the 4 burned on the 8th?

Oh snap, it was county property - I stand corrected.

I believe the three cars, as well as all the others, were actually torched in Oak Cliff.
Where is Rawlins when you need him?

scott miller, i looked at the map carefully while posting this story and these streets were located a good few blocks east of I-35. i know that some other media outlets identified this as oak cliff; and i know that the boundary of oak cliff is debated; but this seemed to be more east than what is generally viewed as the eastern boundary
(rawlins has me very well trained. but when all is said and done, i may still be wrong.)

This is very much in Oak Cliff and no where near South Dallas. Since you asked.........
If it's west (or south as some insist) of the Trinity River and south of Singleton Blvd and north of I-20, west of I-45... it's Oak Cliff.
In fact, this arson terrorism has taken place in what was always called South Oak Cliff since it was between I-35 and I-45 and I-20. Between I-35 and Singleton, North Oak Cliff. Until you are west, beyond where I-35 meets I-67. Then it becomes West Oak Cliff going wastctoward I-20.
The part of the city known as South Dallas is very specific. East of the Trinity, south of downtown, west of the Trinity Forest and north of I-175 and east of I-45. Piece of cake.

Well, I share the feelings about these terrorist arsonists. Which are affecting several people I know who live in Oak Cliff in the affected areas. I want those responsible caught and imprisoned pronto. Thanks for the heads up, Teresa.......
Postscript: As for whether one is of isn’t referring to any major sector of the city correctly, I cannot agree that is ever ‘splitting hairs’. Any time I can help, I am glad to and appreciate someone asking since that indicates that they care enough to learn about their adopted city. In Dallas, as with any city, the actual perimeters of major parts are neither arbitrary nor worthy of random conjecture. They have enormous history and geographic specifics. No less than Brooklyn and Queens. Beverly Hills and Belair.
For instance, the term 'South Dallas' can never refer simply to a southern area of this city but rather, a very specifically historic oldest part of Dallas proper. To say South Dallas should only be used to refer specifically to that area of the city I described in the above post, just south of downtown. To do as is so often done, use the term South Dallas when one means south of something…or Oak Cliff …is like saying Oak Lawn when one means Lakewood, Park Cities, Lake Highlands. It's not a snobby prissy thing; it is a very integral part of who we are, where we live and the history and news we report therein. South Dallas is the original center of Dallas history from the 1800s onward. Long before that town across the Trinity, Oak Cliff, was annexed. The fact that the lion's share of Dallas residents are from somewhere else is understandable.
In any case, I have written about Dallas' major portions as they are defined in many ways, many times, and am always glad to help when someone wants to learn. I appreciate that this is always the case with Pegasus because it shows respect for the town I call home and an interest thereof. As my mother used to say, “No one is born knowing anything”. Many thanks, Rawlins

Rawlins, didn't mean to imply locale isn't important to specify in the grand scheme - just meant that a car burning here or a car burning there is still a car burning.

These guys have been arrested. Understand they are (shocked!) teens.
Everybody grab your books so we can throw them at these urban terrorists who could have burned the houses down with these car torching fires, stole the means of livelihood from many low income and under insured. Caused misery and pain and great fear and financial hardship to so many.
I cannot wait to hear that these were 'good kids'. Hey, parents, this was not a one shot deal ill-advised stupid teen prank. This was a systematic series of urban terrorist acts that were replicated week after week after week.
