— The City of Burleson’s ban on outdoor burning 5,000 feet beyond the Burleson city limits has been lifted, effective Tuesday, March 25.

Burleson Fire Marshal Stacy Singleton reminds citizens who conduct an outdoor burn that they must:

  • Stay with the fire at all times while it is burning.
  • Only burn from sunrise to sundown (no burning at night).
  • Have water available if needed to extinguish the fire.
  • Do not burn outdoors if the wind speed is higher than 20 miles per hour.
  • Consider the safety of your neighbors when burning and be extremely careful.
  • Remember, burning inside the city limits is always prohibited.

The City’s ban prohibiting outdoor burning 5,000 feet beyond the city limits went into effect in mid-January thanks to an executive order signed by Burleson Mayor Ken Shetter. That order declared a state of disaster due to the potential threat of wildfires resulting from drought and adverse weather conditions. Anyone who violated the order was guilty of a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $2,000.

For more information about the lifting of the burn ban, call Burleson Fire Marshal Stacy Singleton at 817-447-5400, ext. 220.
