LFT one year anniversary
LFT celebrated their 1st anniversary in Dallas with drinks and a barbecue.
Enlarge photo | View thumbnailsNo, LFT does not stand for "liver function tests." I believe it is the acronym for "Lifestyle.Fashion.Terminal." This designer clothing store opened in Victory Park, you guessed it, one year ago. They celebrated their birthday with a little party, offering their patrons complimentary beer and burgers (meh - no veggie burgers though, what's up with that?) as they shopped for overpriced t-shirts and mod chic clothes. If you've never been there, the store is pretty interesting. It's nice and big, with lots of distractions if you have time to kill in Victory Park. And the bathrooms are really cool. Watch out for the turbo hand dryers.

It would be great if they actually had customers and I guess the "free-rent" incentive is over by now. I hope they can last.
Many of the retailers at Victory Park are talking of closing - without the thousands of new residential units promised by Perot, they can't survive. Mandarin Oriental being postponed doesn't help.
The developer was supposed to build 4000-6000 residential units, as part of the Master Plan(s) that persuaded the City to invest in AAC. They built 600. The retailers may have also been mis-lead.

Who actually shops at LFT? What is the demographic?
I took a look and nothing in LFT caught my interest. Same goes for the rest of the retail in VP.
Guess somebody got something wrong in the formula?

Lisa and I share the same brain. I've always been fascinated there was a Quicksilver store in VP. Why? How? What must they charge to sustain the rent? What demographic are they after?

I've had the same thoughts - besides going to the AAC for various events, I can't even imagine why I would ever get down there. Is it still $10 just to park anywhere down there - even during non-event times?

Well, having returned earlier today from a series of filmmaker interviews conducted at the AFI lounge (in the West Plaza bldg.), I can report that parking - for the first three hours - is free, if you're willing to walk about a block. Parking in Lot B (don't ask me which direction, but it was down at the end of the block beyond the W Hotel from Victory Plaza) costs $4 after the first three hours and the fee goes up incrementally from there.

Free beer and burgers would have definitely gotten my rear-end down there. Where are you, advertising?
Only time I've been to The Hangar or anywhere near it was for the Savor Dallas wine stroll and a Stars game. Even had the supposed 4,000 - 6,000 condos/apts been constructed...are there really that many people willing to pay what I imagine would be ridiculous mortgages/rent to live there?
We've already got Uptown, Knox-Henderson, etc.
