Homelessness is on the rise in Dallas County
DALLAS The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance annual survey found that the homeless population is growing in Dallas County. The homeless count is not a census but a point-in-time survey measuring the number of all people who are in homeless shelters, under bridges, or otherwise without housing on a single night, which this year was January 22. Both short-term and chronically homeless populations have increased. Dallas' new 24-hour center for the intake and referral of homeless people to social services, The Bridge, is scheduled to open later this month.
