Homelessness is on the rise in Dallas County
DALLAS — The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance annual survey found that the homeless population is growing in Dallas County. The homeless count is not a census but a point-in-time survey measuring the number of all people who are in homeless shelters, under bridges, or otherwise without housing on a single night, which this year was January 22. Both short-term and chronically homeless populations have increased. Dallas' new 24-hour center for the intake and referral of homeless people to social services, The Bridge, is scheduled to open later this month.
