Dallas artist Jason Mehl explains the process behind his artwork at last weekend's ArtLoveMagic event. He uses a metal based paint and then waits for it to react with his surface. Pretty cool, huh? The second video is an interview with Michael Lagocki, the creator of ArtLoveMagic (a gathering of local artists and musicians that happens about once a month typically at Mokah Coffee Bar in the outskirts of Deep Ellum). Lagocki talks a little about the struggles of artists today and explains why he started the event. Their next event will be Friday, May 30 at Saxby's Coffee in North Dallas.

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
