Hit-and-run driver kills boy in Dallas

This much is known: A young boy was killed at a garage sale in Dallas Saturday afternoon by a woman driving a grey Ford pickup truck. However, the details of the event vary widely depending on the source from which you get your news.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the boy was 2 years old and "somehow got out of their car and crawled onto the street." NBC5, however, says the boy was a one-year-old, was already outside of his car, and crawled over to the bumper of the grey pickup, where he was holding himself up when the female driver drove away. CBS11 is the only site reporting the child's name, David Hernandez, although they are saying the boy was playing with other children and merely wandered too close to the street when the truck hit him. All of those are better than Fox4, though, which is still reporting, as of 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, that the boy is in critical condition.

None of the reports give any indication whether the woman driving the pickup was someone known to the people putting on the garage sale or just someone who had stopped by. However, she was driving a grey Ford truck with Texas license number 82NN38, so hopefully it should be relatively easy to find her.

Friday Night Films with AFI Dallas "If you build it, they will come" ... could've described Ray Nasher's vision for NorthPark and his sculpture center, or Lenier Temerlin and Michael Caine's desire to start a local AFI festival. The two team up for an all-American screening of Field of Dreams in the Dallas Arts District. Or there's always fireworks. More info
