Win tickets to sold out Radiohead concert in Dallas (take two)

You may have noticed our previous contest to win Radiohead tickets. After a month we've realized the error of our ways and have changed the contest up a bit (a lot). Details below.

We have two pairs of lawn tickets to see Radiohead at the Superpages.com Center on Sunday, May 18. This concert is sold out. However, the two Pegasus News users who post the most YouTube videos on our band pages can secure their blanket locale on that sweeping, beer soaked lawn.

Here's the easiest way to find and post these videos. First, check out our list of local bands in the PegNews database (you get about 1700 to work with): pegasusnews.com/bands/search. Second, go to YouTube.com and type in that band's name. Click on any one of the videos that come up so it takes you to the hub page for that video. Highlight the URL (not the embed code) and copy it. Finally, go back to that band's page on Pegasus News, enter in any information you have on the video (the name of the band, where they are playing, date they're playing, name of the song, etc - if you can't get all this information, that's fine, but enter as much as you can) and paste the URL underneath.

Example on the Baptist Generals' PegNews band page:

Guidelines

  • The video has to be from YouTube (no MySpace, Google, or other video players will work or be counted);
  • We only want music videos and live performances. We don't want (and won't count) interviews with the band, tour blogs, or other videos that don't contain a performance and/or the band's own music. There will probably be questions about this, so feel free to ask questions in the comments below;
  • You have to be registered to leave a comment on any page of our site, but registration is free and easy, so no sweat;
  • Each video counts for one. If a video has more than one song in it, it's still just one video. You can post multiple videos in a single comment (provided it's for the same band), and we'll give credit for each video posted in the comment;
  • No duplicates. If the video you want to post is already on our site in a story or on a band page, there are tons of others out there.

The contest starts now and will run through 4:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday, May 14. The two (2) users who post the most videos that meet the requirements above will win a pair of tickets to see Radiohead. Good Luck!

Stacey Callaway, says:

My husband says RE20's are a very common vocal mic, especially when recording live in the same room as the band. The RE20 will provide more rejection from the other instruments than a large diaphragm condenser mic. Or it could be that Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich might just like the sound of that mic. .... Yes. I married a nerd..

And lastly... Damn! I was about to start reviewing all the bands I've seen in the last two weeks!

Collin Gouldin, says:

damn indeed! :-) ... RE20s are mostly known for a broadcast mic... and if they can afford to have a 67 above the drums, they can afford to have a more appropriate vocal (singing) mic.

TC, you should have started sooner! We had no entries at all on the original deal, so a week out we had to do something.

TC you can still enter YouTube videos. The contest is wide open at the moment.

I'm told that adding youtube links to comments burns .037 calories per click and is highly therapeutic, which anyone using the site will need in order to reverse the damage done to them by actually using the site.

I gotta say, speaking as someone who uses RSS to keep track of what's happening here on PN, this is the most annoying contest ever. :(

TJ Callaway, says:

Radiohead was amazing! First of all, THANK YOU PEGASUS NEWS FOR THE TICKETS!! My apologies for making the review so late. Its been a busy week.

Radiohead opened up with "All I Need" from the new record and it set a great mood for the rest of the set which was mostly thier more layed back ambient/art rock material. They played the entire new album along with some old stuff. Mostly from OK Computer and later, but a few from previous albums. I was happy to see them stick to the newer material. I find the newer stuff more interesting and always wondered how they pulled some of it off live. About the only thing that was missing on any of the songs was the crazy dissonant horns from "National Anthem", but the part was covered quite well with a little noise guitar instead. Well done. Its nice to see a guitar player that gets it, so rare.....

The band played incredibly well, but the mix left something to be desired. There seemed to be almost no low end in the mix which kind of weakens the sound and for the first time in my life, I wish the band had been a little louder.

They had the coolest light show I have seen at a concert! They had these amazing LED light strips that hung above the band and were constantly changing color and scenes during the set. Behind that was a screen divided into 5 parts with a camera on each of the 5 band members. During "Weird Fishes" when the drums cut out in the middle of the song, there was a very cool blue aquatic themed light show happening, and between that, the arpeggiated guitar/kalimba parts and the contact high I had from the guy in front of me I thought I was swimming in my $9 Coors Light (its about all they had ok, don't judge). I don't normally condone that kind of behavior but when at a Radiohead show.....

Sorry again for the late review, and thank you Pegasus News for the tickets to an amazing show! I have wanted to see these guys for years and finally got to! You guys rock!
