Somehow without me knowing about it, the Palace Theatre in Grapevine hosted the premiere of a film called Monty Python Madness. This event (held on the evening of May 5) was arranged - and the film was produced - by Sheela Kadam and Alexandra Evans, co-owners of The British Emporium and instigators of the "Pythonisation" of Grapevine.
This all occurred as a way to kick off and promote a forthcoming Python-related festival scheduled for July 18-20 - the proceeds of which will go to the Joey Wilkins Foundation, which provides support (such as home remodeling and transportation) for those recently paralyzed and attempting to get back into that whole day-by-day routine living game.
$600 was raised for the Foundation at the movie screening, following which a Gumby Awards ceremony was held in honor of those who assisted with the filmmaking. Award recipients are depicted in the accompanying photo.
We look forward to future such silliness in support of a worthy cause.
