White Settlement has three contested races in the May 10th election, including the Mayor, Place 1 Council Member, and Place 7 School Board Trustee.
Running for Mayor are incumbent James Ouzts, Danny Anderson, and Jerry R. Burns. Candidates for Council Member, Place 1 are incumbent Gunnar Rasmussen, Gene Hatcher, and Robin D. Allen. Finally, running for School Board Trustee, Place 7 are incumbent Lori Ball and Todd Hatcher.
Of those running, only three candidates received contributions (two mayoral, one council). Mayoral candidate Danny Anderson received $500, while Jerry Burns received $2100 from two donors. Incumbent Ouzts reported no campaign contributions.
Gene Hatcher, Place 1 candidate, received the most money, $3,500 total from two donors.
According to public records, a donor named John R. Zimmerman gave the most money to campaigns, throwing down $2,000 apiece to Gene Hatcher and Jerry Burns. His $4,000 contributions make up approximately 65.6% of the total reported campaign contributions in White Settlement for the May 10 election. Again, according to the public records, Zimmerman lives off Hulen, which is not actually in White Settlement. What is your interest Mr. Zimmerman? WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH?

Why do you and everyone else care so little. Or care so much about what other people do with their money?

I care because money talks in elections and in the candidates' ensuing time in office. Does the fact that this person spent $4,000 in an election that received $6,100 mean anything? Maybe yes, maybe no.
In any case, I'm trying to find some contact information for him to ask about it, but I'm running into difficulties. And the last two lines, that some people might take issue with, are light-hearted. I'm more or less just to poking fun at the sensationalist stories you might find somewhere else. I can see where the humor in it could be lost.

Erin, I think your article raises great concern for many people here in White Settlement. I am a former concil member (2003-'06) and I do have great concerns as to why Mr. Zimmerman is contributing so much money here. If you are seeking more information about why he is giving so much money here I would suggest that you look at two local used car wholesale dealers. They are Mr. Robby Baker at RLB Autos and Mr. Decoker at Pro Auto Group. They have both approached the past and present conucil with requests for changes in zoning requlations as they pertain to certain operations of these lots. To say that Mr. Baker and Mr. Decoker were not happy with the mayor is an understatement. If you would like to speak further please let me knwo.
