1st Annual Equity Bank End of Schoolyear Bash! to benefit Gladys Golman/Faye Dallen Education Fund

Come show off your putting skills at the 1st Annual Equity Bank End of Schoolyear Bash! Enter in the miniature golf tournament or help sponsor a child player. All proceeds from the tournament and event will go to the Gladys Golman/Faye Dallen Education Fund (GGFDEF), a charitable foundation that provides training for preschool, day school, and religious school teachers on the educational challenges of teaching children with learning differences. A buffet including kosher offerings will also be featured along with a driving range and batting cages.

Families and students are invited to attend the 1st Annual Equity Bank End of Schoolyear Bash! on May 18th. The event will take place from 1:30 to 4:30pm at Top Golf in Dallas, at the northwest corner of Park Lane and Abrams.

The Gladys Golman/Faye Dallen Education Fund was created by Louis and Robin Zweig when they were faced with the challenge that their son David, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, might not be able to become a Bar Mitzvah. The Zweig’s discovered that there was a glaring need in Dallas to train and educate the city’s religious-school teachers to enable children with learning differences to be successful in their classrooms.

The Zweig’s founded the GGFDEF in September 2007 with a vision to provide educational resources for Dallas area preschool, day school, and religious-school teachers so that they, and their students with learning differences, could fulfill their educational responsibilities and needs.

The fund finances educational seminars and training days, and focuses on helping teachers and religious-school leaders develop classroom strategies for learning differences such as autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and other neurological disorders.

“Our fund is off to a tremendous start”, said Louis Zweig. “We have already started to train Dallas area teachers, and we are finding that our program is sparking citywide thought and initiatives as to how we can better service the needs of students with learning differences and their families.”

Within the strategic objectives of the program, every teacher in Dallas area religious-schools would complete six hours of training focused on learning differences of all kinds. Advisory board members are committed to increasing awareness of this acute need for children in the Dallas community, and to ensure that every child is given a quality education.
