Bennigan’s Grill & Tavern announced today that their peanut butter drive delivered overwhelming results, collecting 8,733 jars in a Dallas/Fort Worth peanut butter drive benefiting North Texas Food Bank’s “Food 4 Kids” program.

The community-wide event was part of North Texas Food Bank’s partnership with WFAA-TV and “Oprah’s Big Give.”

“That will make a lot of peanut butter sandwiches,” said Tarra Tamura, field marketing manager for Bennigan’s. “We at Bennigan’s want to thank all of our customers, staff and the home office for supporting the drive and helping to feed kids in North Texas who might otherwise go hungry.”

The Bennigan’s effort totaled 11,222 pounds of peanut butter collected at area restaurants. The Bennigan’s corporate office also donated $10,000 to support the cause.

“We appreciate Bennigan’s immediate response to being a $10,000 sponsor and hosting peanut butter drives at their restaurants. Their efforts made a significant impact in our fight against hunger in North Texas,” said Jan Pruitt, North Texas Food Bank CEO.

The campaign raised more than $120,000 and more than 70,000 pounds of peanut butter overall.
