The Texas Rangers pulled out another huge surprise for their long-suffering fans Wednesday night, a 2-0 shutout victory over their hated divisional rivals in Seattle. The Rangers have now won at least two games in four straight series, with the final game of the four-game Seattle trip Thursday night.

The win improved the Rangers to an almost-respectable 15-20 on the year, and they are now no longer in last place in the American League. That honor goes to the Mariners, who at 14-21 are one game behind the Rangers with just 127 to play.

Rangers starter Vicente Padilla dominated once again, throwing seven shutout innings en route to improving his record to 5-2. Padilla gave up just two harmless singles and a pair of walks while striking out eight. Padilla has now given up just one earned run in his last three starts, and lowered his ERA to 3.02.

Milton Bradley had a hand in both Rangers runs. In the top of the fourth, left fielder Brandon Boggs hit a triple to the left center gap, allowing Bradley to score the eventual game-winning run. Later, in the top of the sixth, Bradley hit a solo home run to provide all the insurance runs the Rangers would need.

C.J. Wilson pitched a near-perfect ninth for his eighth save in nine chances.
