The Texas Rangers won their third straight game in convincing fashion Thursday night, plowing over the hapless Mariners 5-0 in Seattle to close out a wildly successful four-game road series. The Rangers are now 16-20, have won all of their recent series, and have some positive momentum following their seven-game losing streak earlier in April.

The Rangers pitching staff has given up a big bottle of this the past two games
The shutout was a group effort for Texas, which used five pitchers to get there. Starter Kason Gabbard, fresh off the DL, pitched just three and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and four walks. He was relieved by Franklyn Germán, who followed Gabbard's efforts with one and two-thirds shutout innings of his own, and earned his first win of the season in the process.
Jamey Wright, Eddie Guardado and Frank Francisco closed out the remaining three-plus innings for the Rangers, who combined to allow just four harmless hits, four walks and struck out six. The Rangers have given up just one run in their last three games, as Vicente Padilla pitched a brilliant shutout the night before.
The Rangers got all the runs they would need in the first two innings, as they staked Gabbard to a 4-0 lead early. Ramón Vázquez went 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI, while Ian Kinsler hit a two-run homer in the top of the second to ice the game.
Left fielder Brandon Boggs continued his hot streak, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the first when the game was still up for grabs. Catcher Gerald Laird went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
