2008 Plano election results: Ellerbe out, half billion dollar bond in

0

— Plano had one of the busiest election slates in the area, with two seats up for grabs on the Plano ISD Board of Trustees, a vote on a Plano ISD proposition, and four seats available on the Plano City Council.

In the city council races, Pat Miner won the Place 1 race with 60.44% of the vote, defeating Justin Nichols. The Place 1 race was on the only one where the incumbent was not running; Miner will replace the outgoing Shep Stahel. In the Place 3 race, incumbent Loretta Ellerbe was handily defeated by challenger Mabrie Jackson, with Jackson getting 63.37% of the vote. In the Place 5 race, incumbent Harry LaRosiliere defeated challenger Russel Head, 58.46% to 41.54%. And in the Place 7 race, incumbent Jean Callison far outdistanced her opponent, Danny Morris, 61.21% to 38.79%.

In the Board of Trustees races, incumbent Brad Shanklin won the Place 4 race with 70.21% of the vote, easily defeating challenger Robert Canright. In the Place 5 race, incumbent Lloyd "Skip" Jenkins defeated challengers David Hall and Michael Mariano, but with only 47.98% of the vote. It is unclear at this time whether Jenkins will have to face a runoff against runner-up Hall. The Plano ISD bond proposition, which would put a whopping $490 million toward a variety of projects, passed easily, with 71.57% of voters saying "yes."
