2008 Wylie election results: Eric Hogue is the new mayor

Wylie citizens couldn't wait to get to the polls on Saturday.

The citizens of Wylie had several Wylie ISD Board of Trustees races and city council races on which to vote Saturday, not to mention deciding who their new mayor would be.

In the mayoral race, voters decided it was time for a change, as challenger Eric Hogue defeated incumbent John Mondy, 56.45% to 43.55%. In the Place 5 City Council race, incumbent Rick White edged challenger Chris Trout, 52.98% to 47.02%. And in the Place 6 race, incumbent Carter Porter squeaked by challenger Bennie Jones, 52.33% to 47.67%.

In the Place 1 Wylie ISD race, incumbent Ronni Fetzer garnered exactly six more votes than challenger Barbara Goss, 701-695, to win re-election. In the Place 2 race, incumbent Ralph E. James outdistanced his opponent James R. Griffin, 65% to 35%. And in the Place 4 race, challenger Lance Goff defeated incumbent D. Baron Cook, 54.51% to 45.49%.
