2008 Farmers Branch election results: Tim O’Hare achieves mayordom
The votes are in, and as of Saturday evening, former Mayor Pro Tem and Farmers Branch City Council Member Tim O'Hare has secured his place as the new mayor of Farmers Branch.
O'Hare—best known for introducing in 2006 the ordinance which fines landlords who rent to undocumented residents—received 63.61% (or 2,918 votes), while opponent Gene Bledsoe received 36.39% (or 1,669 votes).
Math is fun:
- a total 4,587 total votes were cast this mayoral election, while
- 6,045 total votes were cast regarding the immigrant ordinance back in May of 2007, with roughly 3,990 (67%) of this figure approving the ordinance.
Meanwhile, only one Farmers Branch City Council seat was up for grabs this time around, that being the Place 2 seat left vacant by, yes, Tim O'Hare. A Mr. Harold Froelich won the seat with 60.53% of the vote, and judging by the fact O'Hare contributed $500 to Froelich's campaign, it can now officially be said that everything is comin' up O'Hare.

How many times can we say Tim O'Hare? However many times he keeps winning things. Also, Tim O'Hare.

I've never really considered 2/3 of 5% of registered voters a mandate, but that's just me.

Oh, brother. I guess I will just have to continue telling people I meet that I live in Addison instead of Farmers Branch. As Popeye would say, "How embarrasskin".
