"Surface transportation improvements" is a pretty vague term.

"Surface transportation improvements" is a pretty vague term.

Fort Worth residents were asked to vote on a $150 million street bond proposal. Was it the lure of surface transportation improvements throughout the city or the promise that there would be no tax increases? In any case, 68.52% voted "For" Bond Proposition 1. Mayor Mike Moncrief urged residents to vote for the proposition in a recent opinion piece in the Fort Worth Business Press.

The Fort Worth ISD Board of Education had four trustee positions up for the vote, as well as the Board President. Ray Dickerson received the highest vote total in the race for FWISD President, but was unable to get a clear majority of more than 50%. Dickerson (49.18%) and runner-up Chris Hatch (43.15%) will meet again in a runoff election to decide who replaces former President Bill Koehler.

Incumbents T.A. Sims, Norman Robbins, and Juan Rangel, Jr. all ran unopposed to hold on to their trustee seats. FWISD Board Vice President Camile Rodriguez lost her reelection bid to Carlos Vasquez, who handily took the victory with 63.85% of the vote.

Turnout in Fort Worth was a whopping 3.25% of eligible voters.
