2008 Highland Park election results

Highland Park voters showed that they are unafraid to spend the oodles of money they all possess by giving an overwhelming "yes" to a $75.4 million bond, money which would be spent to repair aging schools. The actual tally was 1,844 yes and 179 no, or 91% to 9%.

The town also re-elected real estate developer John R. Bunten, Jr. as Trustee on the Highland Park ISD, who defended his Place 7 seat against challenger John "JT" Townsend, by 1,540 to 260 votes or 86% to 14%. Do you think Townsend's chances were hurt by the fact that he 1. not only calls himself "JT" but 2. puts it as part of his name with quotes and everything?

The school board term is three years.
