2008 White Settlement election results: Mayoral race to be decided in runoff
The new council member is decided in White Settlement today, while the Mayoral election is still anyone's game (anyone but Danny Anderson, that is).
With three candidates running for mayor there's always the possibility that no on candidate will receive the coveted 50+% of the vote. Such is the case in White Settlement as Jerry R. Burns falls about 1.5% of the vote below the mark. Burns and runner up incumbent James O. Ouzts will meet again in the upcoming runoff election.
The race for Council Member, Place 1, however, is all wrapped up. Gene Hatcher, who lead in early voting, kept the momentum going to win the seat with 58.83% of the vote. His nearest opponent was Gunnar Rasmussen, who pulled in 36.2%.
Three WSISD School Board Trustee positions were decided as well. Ben Davis and Melissa Brown both ran unopposed, while Lori Ball destroyed Todd Hatcher with nearly 61% of the vote.
Voter turnout in White Settlement was 13.49% for the May 10 election.
