The win streak was started by a strong start from reclamation project Sidney Ponson: Ponson's poor outing Sunday was responsibl for ending it. Ponson lasted just over five innings, giving up six runs off seven hits. Ponson walked five and struck out just one, and had control problems all day.

The Rangers bullpen didn't fare any better, with three pitchers combining to give up another six runs in just under four innings. Franklyn Germán took the loss, his first of the season.

The Rangers were able to rough up Athletics ace Rich Harden, however. Harden left before the end of the fourth after an up-and-down outing. Harden was able to pitch brilliantly to the first two batters he faced in each inning, but had trouble closing out the Rangers, who scored five runs with two outs against the ace.

Ian Kinsler had a good game, going 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Josh Hamilton also had a standout game, going 2-for-5 with a double and a triple, and drove in his 39th RBI.
