Continuing its hunt to expose the nation to incredible emerging photographers, The UnScene Mobile Gallery Tour is returning to Dallas, Texas on June 11th! Whether you’re a pro or an amateur, photographers of all kinds can submit their $25 entry fee along with a portfolio with up to 20 photos to www.unscenetour.com for a chance to be seen at the Decorazon Gallerylater this year!
Hundreds will enter, but only five finalists will be chosen to showcase up to 10 of their most stunning, interesting and jaw-dropping photographs at the popular W Dallas - Victory on June 11th. All of the shown prints will be on sale to help benefit both the photographers and a worthy local charity. But the best part? The winning photographer will be awarded a mini show at the Decorazon Gallery, a Dallas-based gallery created with the idea of promoting art within a young, dynamic market of emerging collectors. Wade Griffith, the winner of last year’s UnScene Tour in Dallas, will also return to the UnScene with his newest work.
“We had the great fortune of finding some truly incredible and gifted photographers last year,” says UnScene Tour founder Julie Chytrowsky. “While this isn’t a contest looking for any one image – we’re reviewing portfolios to discover an entirely new style – I’m really looking forward to seeing those breathtaking shots that really help define the artist behind them.”
Now marking its third year in dedication to exposing unknown creatives, the UnScene Tour was launched to help emerging artists find an audience and give photographers a vehicle to launch their careers. How do they do it? Traveling city to city, The UnScene produces special one-night gallery events showcasing the work of five finalists and their ”unscene” images. Since 2005, the UnScene has discovered more than 80 photographers and helped to place artists at leading galleries and museums in cities like New York, Dallas, Atlanta, New Orleans and many more. Submission deadline for the UnScene Tour in Dallas is May 20, 2008.
