CARROLLTON At approximately 2:25 p.m., May 12, the Carrollton Police Department received a call of an armed robbery that occurred at a jewelry store in the 2600 block of Midway Road. The suspect, described as a white male between 20 – 30 years old, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and long pants entered the store and displayed a weapon. The suspect then ordered a store employee to turn over jewelry to him. Another store employee and his associate observed the robbery occurring and retrieved their own weapons. As the suspect fled through the front door, the armed employee and his associate exited the rear of the store in order to give chase to the suspect.
The pursuing employee and associates observed a subject behind the store and observed another subject by a dumpster in the back parking area. They thought this subject may have been a suspect in the robbery and one of them fired a shot in the air.
The police investigation revealed that this subject was not a suspect in the robbery, but an employee of a nearby store. No injuries were reported as a result of this robbery. The suspect was last seen fleeing north from the location wearing long pants and a black hooded sweatshirt. At this time the investigation is ongoing and the Carrollton Police ask that anybody with information concerning the robbery please contact the Carrollton Police Department at (972) 466-3333.
