Reverend Arthur Mallinson, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, resigned on Tuesday, May 14th from his job at St. Michael the Archangel Church in McKinney.
Mallinson felt compelled to step down after complaints surfaced about his former participation with an online networking website for gay priests, the now defunct "St. Sebastian's Angels (SSA)" website.
When the website was first exposed in 1999, fifty-three priests were found to be involved in the site, with other priests, including South African Bishop Reginald Cawcutt, resigning after their activity was revealed.
Father Mallinson's involvement with the website originally made news reports in 2002, and his move to the McKinney church from the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Lancaster was followed by Catholic reform groups whose recent complaints prompted Mallinson's resignation.
