All things decadent and decorated combine for a frosted fête as NorthPark Bridal presents "Let Them Eat Cake," a cakewalk and tablescape competition benefiting Les Dames D'Escoffier Dallas.
The three-day event, held June 6-8 in NorthPark Center, celebrates the artistry of wedding cake design and tabletop décor alongside a cake competition between some of the area's foremost pastry chefs.
The cake competition - a two-fold event involving a popular vote by NorthPark shoppers, and a judges' vote by a select panel of VIP judges - showcases the talents of local pastry chefs as they each decorate a tiered wedding cake. Joining the competition are pastry chefs: Morgan Wilson, The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas; David Collier, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek; Eric Perelli, Rosewood Crescent Hotel; Kristen Rahal, Tart Bakery; Mathew Crowe, Northwood Country Club; and Nina Hunter, The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Dallas.
Contestants will have all day Friday to complete their frosted designs; the finished cakes will be on display throughout the weekend for NorthPark shoppers and spectators to view and vote for their favorite design.
Judged by a panel of VIP judges, the completed cakes and accompanying tablescapes by NorthPark retailers will be unveiled during an invitation-only Cake Mixer event Friday night. The judges, Alice Medrich, chocolatier and culinary author, W. Donnie Brown, wedding event specialist and TV talent, and Bronwen Weber, Frosted Arts Executive Pastry Chef and TV talent, will select and announce the winning cake design that evening, while a popular vote continues throughout the weekend.
Spectators may cast their votes via the purchase of a $5 raffle ticket, with proceeds benefiting Les Dames D'Escoffier's Scholarship Endowments. With the purchase of five raffle tickets for $20, spectators are invited to the Cake Café to enjoy Cavallini Coffee and cake samples while voting for their favorite cake. The popular vote cake winner will be announced Sunday, June 8 at 3 p.m. Raffle ticket holders who voted for the winner of the popular vote will be entered into a same-day prize drawing, featuring one grand prize winner and a second and third place winner.
A weekend full of sweet temptations, tabletop creations and a worthy cause await at this premiere NorthPark event.
