DENTON Denton City Manager George Campbell has announced the appointment of Kevin B. Gunn to the position of Director of Technology Services for the City of Denton. Gunn will begin his employment on June 2.
Gunn currently serves as Director of Information Technology for the City of Killeen. He has been with Killeen since 2004 and is responsible for overseeing the operation of technology resources, developing technology initiatives, developing procedures for the appropriate use of technology, and ensuring systems reliability and financial performance.
Prior to that, he was the Enterprise IT Program Manager for Naval Reactors for the Department of Energy from 2002-2004, and the Senior Network Engineer and PC Helpdesk Manager as an Ensign for the U.S. Navy from 1997-2002.
“Kevin is a highly qualified individual with a solid background in Information Technology,” said City Manager George Campbell. “He will be an asset to the City as we continue to upgrade our technology and its uses for more efficient operation and effective customer service.”
Gunn said that he was attracted to Denton for its strong sense of community and its clear and compelling vision for the future.
“I’m looking forward to working with elected officials, staff and citizens on a technology program that makes the business of government easier and more efficient for everyone,” he said.
Gunn holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Texas A&M University and Master of Business Administration from Tarleton State University. He also completed his Basic Qualifications Course at the U.S. Navy Supply Officer School in Athens, Ga.
He is a member of the Texas Association of Government Information Technology Managers, the Texas City Management Association, Rotary Club of Killeen and Board Chair of the Killeen Food Care Center. He and his wife, Ronda, have two daughters and are pleased to be joining the Denton community.
