MCKINNEY The national touring production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical brings the original New York cast to McKinney for a limited run. The McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) at the Historic Collin County Courthouse in downtown McKinney hosts the only Texas performance from May 21 through May 25.
With an electrifying score and cheeky script, The Great American Trailer Park Musical covers topics like spray cheese, Dr. Phil, road kill, hysterical pregnancy and the electric chair, all with humor, according to MPAC Director David Taylor.
“Trailer Park is a musical phenomenon. The tour has played to packed houses all over the country, and I couldn’t be more excited to have the New York cast make their Texas debut at MPAC,” said Taylor. “The Memorial Weekend performances offer visitors a reason to make it an outing in downtown McKinney, where they can shop, dine and see a show.”
In preparation for the show, a flock of plastic lawn flamingos has landed on the square of Historic Downtown McKinney. Two hundred pink flamingos have been distributed to downtown shops, restaurants and businesses to help promote Trailer Park.
“We’re thrilled at the reaction to flamingos. It’s a fun, eye-catching way to let people know about the production, and it’s definitely in spirit of the show,” said Taylor.
Trailer Park opens Wednesday, May 21 and runs through Sunday, May 25 at MPAC. Tickets for reserved seating range from $24.50 to $37 and are available through the Emerson Ticket Office at 214-544-4630 or www.mckinneyperformingartscenter.org.
