Until Friday, Houston was the hottest team in the majors over the past few weeks, but on this night they just couldn't prevent the Rangers from scoring. The Rangers were ahead 8-2 already in the fourth, before Houston stormed back in the next two innings to tie it. Then, in the bottom of the seventh, the Rangers knocked in two more runs, and added another six in the eighth for insurance.

Josh Hamilton was once again at the center of the offensive maelstorm. Hamilton went 5-for-5 with a walk, a triple and two home runs. Hamilton hit a solo shot in the second inning, and a three-run blast in the fourth, and managed to knock in five RBI and score four times Friday night. Hamilton now has 49 RBI in 43 games, 6 more than anyone else in the majors.

Several other Rangers had standout games: Michael Young went 2-for-6 with three runs and three RBI, including a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. David Murphy went 3-for-6 with two runs and three RBI, and also hit a home run, his fifth, in the bottom of the eighth.

Ian Kinsler went 1-for-3 with three walks and three runs scored, one of which led to Houston manager Cecil Cooper getting ejected from the game. After a controversial call at home plate, in which Kinsler was ruled to have just beaten the tag, Cooper came out to argue with umpire Angel Hernandez. The result: Hernandez 1, Cooper 0.
